About Us.

About Us.

In late 2022, Mary Pat Myers, Rose Traficante, Laurel Nuschke, and Justine Magariel gathered in Mary Pat’s photography studio in Cape May to discuss the state of politics, locally and across the country. Time and again, one question emerged: What can we do about it? By the year’s end, after brainstorming with other Democratic community members, the Cape Island Democratic Club (CIDC) was officially established. Eighteen busy months later, CIDC now has more than 100 members from municipalities across the southern end of Cape May County. Galvanized by its enthusiastic reception and early successes, CIDC founding officers are confident that, together, Cape May area Democrats can usher change that benefits all.

Two years later… January 2025, the Club is now over 200 members strong and continues to grow. The 2025 team is led by Mary Pat Myers, Lee Zektzer, Kim Gibbons and Laurel Nuschke. Rose Traficante chairs the Membership Committee and the CIDC Advocacy Committee and Justine Magariel is a Club Advisor.
